Any sequence needs to be able to tell a story, to enable the audience to become engaged and interested. Storytellin is iimportant becasue you need to capture the audiences attention and keep them entertained throughout the duration of a film. Although this may seem easier said than done, if the editing of your sequences are done correctly , then telling the stroy shouldn't be a problem. If the story is told well then you don't need to worry anout engagig the audience as they make their own decisions on whether they like it or not. All in all storytelling all comes down to the editing of the footage to create this.
